Mountain Full Edition, Olivia Furey
The Friday evening of Counterflows dives in with two mischievous acts that challenge and subvert any standardised notion of what consists of a ‘band’.
Kyoto’s Mountain: Full Edition (Misako Yabuuchi, Kentaro Imai and Kiuchi Hitomi) open the evening, presenting their deliciously odd cross-disciplinary work together in Europe for the 1st time. “Like an ever transforming ridgeline, resonating with society and breaking the pre-assumed harmony.”
Following them will be Irish performer and sound artist Olivia Furey, who will be bringing her group to present a new piece for Counterflows. Taking on a disruptive and hysterical persona, her performances hover between an experimental song and a disruptive, performative act, with sounds made from a hodge-podge of guitars, everyday objects, fx and sound manipulation devices.
