Maher Shalal Hash Baz with Bill Wells & Danielle Price + Sonic Bothy

Maher Shalal Hash Baz and Sonic Bothy is a double bill we’ve been keen to organise for some time, and we can’t think of a better way of closing the curtain on the festival. Both acts offer radical and inclusive approaches to song and improvisation that cohere so many things about the strangeness, joy and possibility of making music together.
Sonic Bothy are an award-winning inclusive Scottish ensemble who work in the fields of new music, experimental music and improvisation. This will be a rare live outing for them, and a chance to catch one of the country’s vital groups. Maher Shalal Hash Baz, lead by Tori & Reiko Kudo, will close the festival with their singular, disorientating and tender music, which welcomes a rag-tag ensemble featuring Glasgow legend Bill Wells, tuba player Danielle Price, Chinese singer/guitarist Xu Shaoyang and more. The words of Tori Kudo hang large over the festival: “Error in performance dominates Maher Shalal Hash Baz… which is like our imperfect life.”
This is an all ages event.
