How to get here

Woodside Hall, a historic building constructed in 1925, has recently undergone essential repairs and maintenance. Ideally located near St George’s Cross, the venue is easily accessible by public transport. However, please note that some areas in the surrounding vicinity may feature uneven surfaces or lack drop curbs.

Bus

The nearest bus stops are located on Windsor Terrace, just a 2-minute walk from Woodside Hall, serving the M3 route. Additionally, the Clarendon Street bus stop, also a 2-minute walk away, serves the 60, 60A, 61, and N60 routes.

Subway

The closest subway station is situated on Great Western Road (G4 9AH), approximately 4 minutes’ walk from Woodside Hall. This station is not step-free or wheelchair accessible. It has two flights of stairs or escalators and no lift. The journey from the station is step-free but can be steep and windy in places.

Taxi

If you are at the venue and need a staff member to call a taxi for you or help you order a taxi, please speak to someone who is described as below in the staff section. We recommend Glasgow Taxis; their phone number is 0141 429 7070.

Drive

There is on-street parking directly outside the venue on Glenfarg St.

 

Staff

This event will be supported by Counterflows Festival team. The venue staff will be a duty manager/ janitor and wear their own clothes. Counterflows Staff and Volunteers wear black t-shirts with a Counterflows 2025 design on them.

The staff will be scattered around the venue and will be present to assist with opening doors, finding a seat and any other support requests you have. There will also be security on site, they will be checking bags and IDs where appropriate.

Safe Space

Within the venue there will be a designated safe space. This space is for people who require respite from the festival or will be used by our safer space representatives if audience members or artists are feeling vulnerable. Our safer space representatives will be wearing a pink butterfly.

There will be earplugs available at all venues and a limited number of ear defenders. Ask at box office or any member of the Counterflows team.

Building Main Entrance

Woodside Hall features four entrances: the main entrance, a side entrance, and two additional fire exits. The main entrance has an accessibility ramp, or you can ascend four even steps, the rear fire exit also includes an accessibility ramp. Please note that some interior doors may be slightly heavy; however, staff members will make every effort to keep them propped open or assist you as needed.

Second Entrance

The second entrance has many steps and no accessible ramp. Audience will not use this ramp

On the right-hand side of the main hall, a set of steps leads to the rear of the building, where a chair lift has been installed for accessing this level. Our staff will gladly assist you with using the chair lift if needed.

Please note that Woodside Hall also has a second floor and upper gallery seating in the main hall. Unfortunately, there is currently no lift available to access this level, we regret any inconvenience this may cause.

Accessible Fire Exit

Emergency Evacuation

Fire exits are marked with lit-up green emergency signage. Festival staff will guide you out of the building. There are accessible entrances and exits at the front and back of the building. The entrance and exit for wheelchair users is a ramp at the front of the building.

General Environment

Woodside Hall is a welcoming and versatile community space situated in the heart of Glasgow’s Woodside area. The interior is bright and spacious, featuring a clean and neutral décor that easily adapts to a variety of setups and themes. While the style is somewhat dated, it possesses a certain charm that adds to its character. Woodside Hall combines convenience with community spirit, providing a warm and accommodating environment for any occasion.

Tickets will be checked at the door by a staff member. You can provide either digital tickets on your phone or a paper printout.

Performance Space

When you enter the building through the main entrance, you’ll find yourself in a ground-floor foyer. Straight ahead are doors leading to the main concert hall, with a small bar located on your left. In the foyer, to the left, you’ll find doors leading to the side fire exit and stairs descending to the cloakroom and bar. On the right, there are doors to an accessible bathroom, as well as stairs leading down to the same cloakroom and bar area.

Additional toilets are located downstairs near the cloakroom and bar. Both alcoholic and soft drinks will be available for purchase at our bars.

Seating

The seating options available are simple slightly padded chairs with backs and no arms.

Toilets

One accessible toilet is to the right of the foyer as you enter from the main entrance. There is an unautomated door in between the foyer and the accessible toilet but there will be staff present if you need assistance. The accessible toilet has grab rails, a lowered sink and an emergency cord.

Caregivers are more than welcome to attend this event, but afraid this event will not be suitable for children.

This event will have varied levels of sound ranging from quiet to mid-levels and some loud moments.

Performance: Friday 5th April (afternoon) Masa Nazzal and GLARC Tape Launch

This event will contain spoken word with microphone projected images on a screen and also some field recordings of natural sounds.

It will also contain varied levels of sound from quiet to loud electronically generated sound.

Performance: Sunday 6th April: Sonic Bothy + Maher Shalal Hash Baz
