Mariam Rezaei

Mariam Rezaei (she/her) is a multi-award-winning composer and performer. Her work is at the intersection of hip-hop and new experimental turntable practices combined with a grounding in new music aesthetics and philosophy. Her music has recently been described as “genuinely ground-breaking” (LCMF 2022, London Jazz News) and “high-velocity sonic surrealism” (LCMF 2022, 4* The Guardian).  Her newest work includes turntable quartet for soloist, “This World Which Is Made Of Women” (BBC Radio 3/New Music Show commission 2022) and free jazz turntable requiem SADTITZZZ (LCMF 2022). Based in Newcastle, he previously led experimental arts project TOPH, TUSK FRINGE and TUSK NORTH, and is Artistic Director of TUSK Festival, based in Newcastle and Gateshead (tuskmusic.org).
