Inge Thomson

Inge has been creating music for over 25 years as a composer, producer, lyricist, multi-instrumentalist and performer. She grew up on Fair Isle surrounded by salt, sea, fish and birds and her work is inspired by the environment and her place in it. Inge’s work over the past decade has been collaborative, affording her new experiences and forming rich musical relationships.

Inge is a founding member of Harem Scarem and plays accordion and percussion in Karine Polwart’s band. This year she was commissioned by Techtonics 2023 in partnership with the BBC to create new work Fight, Flight, Freeze and Fawn, a piece that blends composed sound representations of human emotional responses to trauma with improvised reactions to manipulated interview excerpts.
