DJ E

DJ E (Chuquimamani-Condori) is a Pakajaqueño Aymara artist born in California’s Inland Empire, whose work fuses traditional drum and ceremonial Aymaran music with vivid synths, warped folk melodies and dense noise. As DJ E, they deliver boundary-liquefying DJ sets that combine sonic cacophony, astonishing emotional vulnerability, and a raw overload of textures.

DJ E will hit one of our Counterflows clubnights after performing with their brother Joshua Chuquimia Crampton as Los Thuthanaka. We want to make it clear that DJ E is by no means just a DJ set by a brilliant artist. Condori’s use of the decks forms the locus of how they construct their music: stacking and slamming unlikely sounds together, giddily applying soundsystem hype samples, queering the past, the present, the folkloric, the obscure and popular. As Aymaran cosmology suggests, the past is forward, the future is behind. Through their DJing they offer new ways to unshackle the present and commune in sound.
