Remont Pomp
Remont Pomp is a percussion ground, forgoing standardised Western drums for African percussive instruments and everyday objects: barrels, bottles, wine glasses, and other nik-naks. Working in a circular formation around a dinner table, they bring the rituals of the every day into a lopsided present, acting both of as a collaborative experiment and therarpy group for its members.
Remont Pomp was formed at the Polish Association for People with Intellectual Disabilities, Gdańsk branch. The group has released four albums: Złota Platyna, Pomp Power, Sam jesteś Pompa vol. 1 and vol. 2. All of them feature the band’s long-time friend, saxophonist Mikołaj Trzaska. During the studio recordings, the group was also supported by double bassists Mika Majkowski and Adam Żuchowski.
Remont Pomp has collaborated with many musicians, including Ken Vandermark, Brian Irvine, Marzena Majcher, the Klezmer Orchestra of the Sejny Theatre, Raphael Rogiński, Jacek Prościński, and Grzegorz Nawrocki and others. It’s an honour to welcome them here to Scotland for the first time.
