Peter is a cellist/improviser/composer/teacher who has recorded and toured extensively with various new music ensembles, improvising groups, professional symphony orchestras, and as a soloist. He is particularly interested in composing and devising collaboratively, exploring the lines between composition and improvisation.
His solo cello and voice work mixes songs/compositions with free improvisations. As soloist Peter has been invited to perform at festivals in the UK, France, Germany, Estonia and Norway. His first solo album is called Shutters Drawn.
Peter plays and writes collaboratively with Glasgow-based band The One Ensemble. He is also a member of the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra and the Viridian String Quartet, one of the ensembles in residence at the University of Glasgow. He has also worked as musician / actor in theatre productions with Imaginate and NTS. As a teacher, Peter has worked at Big Noise Raploch (Sistema Scotland) since 2009 where he specialises in working in improvisatory contexts with children as well as writing large-scale arrangements and compositions for the Symphony Orchestra.
